TEFLON434 Form to follow Function, or is it the other way around? As per request and thoughts, I have been tasked with making the Ducati 848 a bit more appealing to the eyes. When I’m usually put to the test I always consider the basic questions of what it takes and helps to go racing…
1) How much does it COST?
2) Will it make me go FASTER?
I’m definetly not the man of “all show & no go”, so some things aren’t high on my list, “paint” isn’t one of them. The bike is “setup” to the WERA Rulebook Standards, as far as numberplates and required decals… I’m GOOD with it!!! Besides, where I’m from, a pretty motorcycle is like a pavement magnet. This, I’m NOT good with. I do believe painting the bike will give a more professional appearance. For this I’m willing to talk with my bean counter to find funding.
Our TEAM colors are RED, BLACK and WHITE, So these are the colors we are working with. WERA rulebooks states my numberplates have to be black numbers on a yellow background so there is NO OPTION with this, lets see how we can make it all work together.
Being that I’m a “PEOPLE PERSON”, I want to include your opinion, so let’s try this. If funds become available… what pattern do YOU think I should use and why. Let me know in the comments section. If we pick the same pattern you choose we may put your name on the bike in our grouplist section….. HMMMMM……
The bodywork shown is STREET bodywork… I’m using these pics for an idea of the paintjob.

TEFLON I like option #B except I would change the numbers from the color gray to the color white. I like this option because it looks professional and a little intimidating on the road.
Feeling the 2nd color combo. Sponsers could go in white. Only setback, will the black front/rear be as visable to the other riders?
I vote for option B. I agree with Deborah, the colors make it more intimidating. And i also think it fits your personality best……Oh…..and let me know if you need the correct spelling of my name to go on the bike!! lol (who can’t spell T-I-A….lol) Love ya cuz
DEBORAH, Good job!!! Being the first person to post you get your name on the bike regardless of the pattern TEFLON434 decides on.
That red & black!!! The second one. It just jumps off the page…..it “looks” fast, so you should be able to make it go faster….LOL
@ DEBORAH… Good JOB AGAIN…. Think about the name you want us to use, Even if I don’t pick your choice your name is on it!!!!
@ Deluxe34… WHAT’S up!!!! C’mon man!!! Visable to the other riders? HA!!! I’m so FAST its jus a blur anyway! LOL! I’m sure the dark color won’t be a prob.
@ TEE TEE… T I A!!! Krazy as usual!!! My Personality? huh?? Don’t make me come look for you.
@ SMOKE… WHATTUP!!! No doubt!!! I can make it go FASTER!!!
Option B has my vote, but option C is a close 2nd!
But remember to add a JR somewhere in there for old times sake!
I like option A!! It pops right at yea! You can’t go wrong with sexy red, black and white! Sponsors can go in the white. I like B also but will sponsor logo pop out? Your pit crew outfits will match good with this 3 colors, especially your umbrella girls!
Booo…boring azz Duc…..You’ll look like everybody else out there. I wanna hear AND see you coming. Give me some green and purple or something to make me say…..”Everybody look…here come TEFLON!!!”

The third appealed to me the most because the separation of the colors (red, black and white) seemed to be in the right place. I immediately took notice of the Ducati letters in white against the black background. For some reason it seems as if the red is much darker than A and B and with a more “blood” red appeal rather than the usual race red. This may have something to do with the black and white contrast. For me B is too simple, it’s just black and red, and A is too common. Maybe you can add the 848 and the 860 to the body work on template C. Also lets consider the fact that the Italian flag stands out in both A and C, and to me this is why B is a no go, get it NO GO. A is HOT too, maybe some how you can add the Ducati in there some where.
LA
@ JAN… I knew you’d give me 2 answers!!!
@ LVEE… Can’t go wrong with sexy red, black and white!!!
NO DOUBT!!! So the Umbrella Girls know what to wear….
@ H-MIZZLE WHO??? LOL!!! Whattup, I’ll put my touches on it, they’ll see me coming!!! BTW. YEA YOU GOT EDITED… can’t let out the “Daring Double”…. its a SECRET!!!
@ LA…. Very INFORMATIVE!!!! HA!!!, We’re painting a racebike we’re NOT at the ART MUSEUM!!! Thank you very much for your input sir!!!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!
I like option B.
I 2nd that. I like option #B
I’d go with A. I think the upper looks sick.
loving the second option, but as said above the white numbering will make it look even better.
The view will be of dreads and a blur getting smaller. U know how we feel about brake lights.
@ TANISHA… U jus so STRAIGHTFORWARD!!! ThanK You!!!!!
@ FREDDY… WHATSGOOD! You not 2nd… you like 7th… still GOODLUCK!
@ BRAD…. HEY!!! Sick as in good… or you bout to throw up? GOTCHA!!
@ GO GETTA… Whattup!!! Hmmm… White numbers…. SICK!!!
@ DELUXE34… BRAKE LIGHTS??? What brakelights…. 34 forever!!!!
The red and black one
Yo this is what you should do. Go with option B because it seems like everyone likes that one, but flip it like this. Paint the bike all red. Wrap the black areas with carbon fiber wrap. and vinyl the number plates like option A. (white for expert and yellow for novice ). Put a Trackstar badge where the ducati flag is on the nose. The advantage is you can create themes for different sponsors by just wrapping the black areas with out having to repaint the entire bike.
@ SPENCE… WHATTUP BRO!!!! I’m still RYDN 4 ya! Waitn on YOU!!!
@ T TAURI… ??? YOU BEEN HANGING WITH LA???? YO this is what you should do, pay for that paintjob or find me someone that will!!! Carbon fiber wrap… cmon now that’s FAKE… I DON’T DO FAKE!!! If sponsors WANT a theme they’ll pay for it. That’s why they’re sponsors, Love the idea of the TRACKSTAR badge tho…
Black and red all day dog!!!!!!!!!!!
I WOULD SAY OPTION B. THANKS FOR YOUR CARD (THE 24 DINNER IN ATLANTA).. GOOD LUCK , STAY STRONG N KEEP GOD FIRST YOU WILL GO FAR!!
well…b is the only 848 scheme you’ve posted, the answer should be pretty obvious
@ BOONDAK.. “Its TRACKSTARS baby!!!”
@ SPA….. You’re Welcome… Thank you Very Much! Enjoyed meeting you!
@ TommyP.. Whattup Fast Dude…. Hmmm Its starting 2 make sense!!!
Option b
I love option c.
Why? It stands out greater then ALL the rest just like you!
Great Story… I love reading your work…. you should utilize some of your writing skills, what seems like just words, becomes amazing to those that read them like the story it is.
SHALL SUCCESS BE ALL THE PLEASURE, NO BOUNDARIES, NO MEASURE.
DR ROBB. RMj3
i say you go with same paint theme you had on the R6 but in the team colors!!!!!!!!! i understand the professional part of it however a radiacal theme will create that “remember that bike with the ….” also sticks in peoples mind (potentional sponsors).
as usuall im late to the party but my guess is option b for the intimidation look and agressive look as for the number if its on the black back ground put the # in red if on a red back put the # in yellow ……………….NO MATTER WHAT YOU KEEP DOIN WHAT YOU DO ….STAY FOCUS ……..STAY ON COURSE ……..PEACE
